Dr. Dave Beauchamp, University of Washington
Dave is a Professor in the School of Aquatic and Fisheries Science at the University of Washington and is acting Unit Leader of the USGS Washington Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. His research program investigates aquatic food web dynamics using a mechanistic perspective that scales up from the behavior, visual capabilities, bioenergetics, and distribution of individuals to the structure and function of aquatic communities. Much of his research focuses on pelagic food web interactions in large lakes and reservoirs, estuarine, and marine habitats with salmonids as a common denominator. Common research questions involve what factors limit production and survival of key species in response to non-native species, climate change, and human perturbations.
